Ranger JV drops two to Southwest Prep

The Ranger College junior varsity baseball team opened its 2019 season with a pair of tough losses on Wednesday afternoon at home against Southwest College Prep.

In Game 1, Southwest College Prep managed to grind out four runs in the top of the sixth inning and then hang on to claim a wild 16-15 slugfest. The Rangers managed to get the winning run into scoring position in the bottom of the seventh before Southwest College Prep collected the final out.

Southwest claimed the nightcap, winning 9-6.

"We're down in numbers a little, but we're working hard," said Ranger JV coach Billy Fox, noting the team's roster stands at 17. "I'm really happy with the hustle they have shown."
