"Both of those guys played really well for us," said Ranger College head coach Scott Norwood. "We have some high expectations for them, as we all of our players. It is great to see them get recognized for their hard work."

Holdren and Suero, on Wednesday, were named the conference's players of the week for Jan. 27 – Feb. 2. The two were recognized on the NJCAA Region 5 website.

Holdren, a freshman from Mont Belvieu, TX, posted a .583 batting average for the week with a home run, eight RBIs, four runs scored, three walks and two stolen bases while leading Ranger to a 4-0 start to the season.

Jose Suero was the conference's pitcher of the week. The sophomore from the Dominican Republic made one appearance last week and went 1-0. In five innings pitched, he did not allow an earned run or a hit and struck out 11 of the 18 batters he faced
